Link: FaLaLaLaLa - Christmas with The Big Ben Banjo Band.
The King of Jingaling cools off the long hot summer with a bit of Christmas in June...
This is not really an album, but an E.P. But they sure know how to pack tunes into 4 medleys. Fourteen songs on a little 45 is pretty good.
This is one of those items that I never heard of until it showed up on Ebay. One look at the cover and I had to have it, knowing nothing about it.
Apparently The BBBB (as I will affectionately refer to them) were the brainchild of Norrie Paramour, British record producer and onetime head of A&R for EMI's Columbia label (which went on to sign some long-haired Liverpudlian group...). They performed on BBC radio programs and became so popular that Paramour created touring versions of this primarily studio band. It also happens that The BBBB have also recorded with my faves, The Mike Sammes Singers, and there is a commercial CD release that is still in print: Big Ben Banjo Party
