The Island of Misfit Christmas Shows Compilation
(Audio captures taken from various public domain/out of print/seldom aired Christmas themed cartoons, films and TV shows. The sources used tended to be of fairly low quality to begin with so be prepared for a certain amount of sonic dirt and grime. The tracks were originally meant for a podcast where they would have been cross-faded together - as a result some of songs begin or end more abruptly than I would have liked - easy to hide with a cross-fade but fairly evident here. There's also the occasional snatch of dialog or sound effect on a few of the tracks.)
Features songs from:
A selection of screen captures from some of the programs can be found here.

While sorting through my Christmas CDs I came across the long lost 2005 SWO Christmas archive disc. So, here's the first in a series of re-posts of stuff I shared in '05 and then lost between the end of rapidshare.de and losing the back-up. (As with everything else I'm sharing these disappear next week.)
Sometimes the holidays can be a little bit scary...a very little bit:
Not my rip and has since been shared out in a few places but if you haven't heard it yet...

A neat early Christmas present for SWO today in the form of an article (two actually) in the Press Enterprise. I'd done an email interview with the article's author Todd Van Der Werff a few days back but had no idea how much, if any, of what I said/wrote would make the final cut. I was pleasantly surprised with the finished product - and my kids think I'm a star! Thanks very much to Mr. Van Der Werff for covering the web sharity community and hopefully exposing more nearly forgotten Christmas music to a wider audience.

I know next to nothing about these albums - they sound like someone simply recorded them at their kid's school Christmas concert. Just a piano accompanying a few not particularly talented kids.Add your own polite applause and you've got the soundtrack to a virtual small town Christmas pageant, without the charm or the cute skits. Probably for hardcore Christmas collectors only.
